Brrrrr.....Snow in Vegas

You would have thought it was the end of the world here in Las Vegas yesterday! It started snowing about 2pm, and everyone freaked out! The 3 stations stopped all regular programming, and the news anchors covered "Breaking News!! Falling snow!" for 3 hours. I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, so the little bit of snow we had here yesterday is a drop in the bucket compared to a Nebraska blizzard.
I took these pictures in my yard....my 2 little frogs are wondering "What the heck!!"; my little cactus garden looks so out of place with a covering of snow; and that last little cold creature??? Thats our pug, Spanky. He HATES when its cold and wet, and every moment he can, he cuddles down in the pillows on the couch trying to stay warm.

So this is a good day for a soup recipe....
TACO SOUP
Brown 1 lb. hamburger
Add 1 can pinto beans (undrained) and 1 can "No Beans" chili
1 can diced tomatos, Mexican style
1 small can sliced black olives
1 small can green chilis
1 lb. Velveeta cheese, cubed
Stir in 1 pint of sour cream shortly before serving, and heat through.
Put a handful of the small size Fritos in a bowl, and spoon soup on top.
Enjoy!!

  1. I saw on the national news about your snow...how fun! Schools closed...hahaha! We remember that even in North Carolina, huh? THe grass was peeping thru the snow and we had no school! Not a bad deal...We had four inches and wind chills of -30 and they had school...ice tomorrow, that might close it up! That recipe sounds really good, im going to see if I have hamburger and Im going to make it!
